Он холодом льдов и жарой закалён,

Они ему нипочём.
They are no match for him.

With fire and sword!


Его корабль прибыл в порт за чаем, нарядами, травами.
His ship arrived at port for tea, finery, and herbs.
Но лишь отплыл корабль тот, окружён был пиратов оравою.
But as soon as the ship set sail, it was surrounded by a horde of pirates.
Моряк наш не струсил и ринулся в бой,
Our sailor did not lose his nerve and rushed into battle,
Его ободрял легкий бриз и прибой,
He was encouraged by a gentle breeze and surf,
Но выстоять долго не смог.
But he could not hold out for long.
Мерзавцев было много.
There were many scoundrels.


А может он любит свободу сильней,

Ему по пути и Зефир, и Борей,
Zephyr and Boreas are on his way,
Он сакуру видел и пальму, и клён,

Они ему нипочём.

Связали мужчину и кинули в трюм, затем на доску поставили.
They tied a man up and threw him into the hold, then placed him on a plank.
Он прыгнул к акулам и утонул, а акулы его обезглавили.
He jumped among the sharks and drowned, and the sharks beheaded him.
Он умер героем и другом для всех, его ожидал величайший успех.
He died a hero and a friend to all, the greatest success awaited him.
Пожертвовал только собой.
He sacrificed only himself.
Да, он такой!

Дети увидеть хотят лишь глазком, где их храбрый отец.
Children just want to catch a glimpse of their brave father. But the poor sailor, in the depths of the sea, walks with the waves to the altar.
Но бедный моряк в пучине морской с волною идёт под венец.
Ten years will pass, his sons will grow up,
Лет десять пройдёт, сыновья подрастут,
They will erect a monument to their sailor father,
Отцу-моряку монумент возведут,
They will bury him empty,
Гроб похоронят пустой,
Wooden, simple!
Деревянный, простой!
