One night, my mother heard some noise outside. cs she got up to switch on the light, she saw a shadow on the glass window. She thought it was a thief, but then she heard a knock on the door. When she slowly walked to the door, she heard a peculiar grunting and thumping. She stopped, took a deep breath and watched keenly as the shadow of the figure appeared again on the window. By now, she was sure that it was the hyena, rumoured to be on the prowl.

Однажды ночью моя мама услышала какой-то шум на улице. Она встала, чтобы включить свет, и увидела тень на оконном стекле. Она подумала, что это вор, но тут услышала стук в дверь. Медленно подойдя к двери, она услышала странное хрюканье и стук. Она остановилась, глубоко вздохнула и внимательно наблюдала, как тень фигуры снова появилась на окне. Our house was one among the five houses in a row, which shared a common wall. Everyone in the locality was aware of the danger. cs telephone services were not available in those days, people alerted each other by thumping on the walls.
